This sounds bizarre, but it happened. A man has been arrested by men of the Ebonyi State Police Command for the murder of his 25 year-old cousin.
The police claimed the arrested suspect killed his cousin, identified as Chukwudalu Omege because he claimed Omege killed him in his dream.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Sylvester Igbo, the suspect claimed he dreamt twice overnight.
In the first dream, he saw three men trying to kill him, but he could not make out their faces.
He even knelt down, according to his police statement, and asked God not to allow his death.

Then he went back to sleep and dreamt again. This time, he claimed he saw the faces of dream killers, one of whom was 'Omege'. The suspect decided to kill his cousin before the dream became a reality.

Igbo said that after the arrested suspect stabbed his cousin, the cousin was rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki, where he died.

Igbo said the suspect would be charged to court soon.

The Lagos State Police Command has began the investigation into the murder of a banker, Adindu Ohamara, who was stabbed to death by his suspected homosexual lover in Akoka, Bariga Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that Ohamara lived in a three-bedroom flat with his elder sister, Flora and one Collins, an Undergraduate of the University of Lagos.
According to the residents, the banker was stabbed repeatedly at his residence located at 26 Obayan Street.

PUNCH METRO learnt that Ohamara, who was believed to be a homosexual, was fond of bringing different men, who were also believed to be into same-sex relationship, to his home.

It was learnt that trouble started when he (Ohamara) decided to get married due to pressure from his family.

A resident, who craved anonymity, said after the banker had his wedding introduction, a man, believed to be also a gay came to fight him.
He said, "A few week ago, Ohamara did his wedding introduction and shortly after that, one man came to the compound to fight him. There was a lot of noise over the issue and even neighbours had to come to settle the matter.

"The unidentified man complained that he had been jilted and threatened to deal with Ohamara before he left in anger.

Our correspondent learnt that on April 9, 2013, the banker returned home from work with a man, who allegedly stabbed him at midnight and left.

According to police sources, hours before the incident, Collins went to Ohamara's room where he met a stranger sitting on Ohamara's bed, discussing with him.

A domestic worker, who craved anonymity, said he saw the suspect fleeing with a laptop at midnight.
He said, "It was a Friday evening. Ohamara came home with a man and they went inside. I went to sleep, but at midnight I saw the man carrying a laptop and then he opened the gate and left.
He did not run, so I was not suspicious.
"Around 4am, Collins and Flora started shouting for help. A neighbour came to help them and they took him into his Toyota Camry and drove to a hospital.

It was learnt that Ohamara was taken to Jonken Hospital from where he was referred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, where he was confirmed dead.

The matter was reported at the Sabo Police Division but was later referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba.

The police came to the house, and arrested all the adult occupants of the building, including the security guard identified only as Kazeem.
The police allegedly demanded N350,000 from each of the detained persons before they could be released.

The landlord of the property, Yemi Oketola, said the deceased had issued him two post-dated cheques as payment for his rent.
Oketola on hearing of the arrest of his other tenants, visited the SCID and appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Damilola Adegbuyi, for their release.

However when the Spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Ngozi Braide, was contacted, she confirmed the murder, but she said she could not confirm if the deceased was a homosexual or not.

She said, "According to information I got at the SCID Homicide unit, there are only two suspects in custody, the deceased's sister (Flora) and the UNILAG student (Collins). I am not aware of any other arrests.
"Also, I am not aware of any N350,000 bail because bail is free. Investigations are ongoing and we will get to the bottom of it."

The Vice-Chancellor of the Redeemer's University, Mowe, Ogun State, Prof. Debo Adeyewa, has said the institution has floated a Recovery of Destiny Initiative to assist students who contravene the university's regulations.

This was contained in a statement issued by the institution after the VC approved the initiative designed to provide a window of opportunity for student offenders.
He added that the programme was intended to salvage students who might have over-stepped their bounds either through peer pressure of sheer character defects.

Adeyewa explained that the sanctions for misconduct in the university had been categorised as minor, major and gross misconduct.
"Offenders who have appeared before the Student Disciplinary Committee and found guilty of contravening university rules and regulations in the category of major misconduct will be offered the opportunity of undergoing the Recovery of Destiny Programme if the offender is remorseful and redeemable," he stated.

The VC added that the initiative was anchored by some relevant accredited non-governmental organisations, in partnership with the university.
He added that students undergoing the programme would be monitored at personal levels to ensure a complete transformation and not a mere reformation.

Adeyewa stressed that the report from the relevant monitoring bodies would help the management to determine whether the student was fit to come back to the university or not.

"Performance during the programme is, therefore, a major determining factor for reabsorption into the university," he explained.

While speaking on the modalities for the implementation of the programme, the VC said it would be undertaken by the offenders when other students are in session.
He warned that a repeat of the misconduct that led to a candidate's enrolment for Recovery of Destiny would lead to expulsion.

Adeyewa added that a committee had been set up to drive the initiative.

The university had recently given a window of opportunity to redeem students who were expelled for the use of hard drugs early this year. Some of the affected students were remorseful and were willing to be assisted are undertaking restorative therapy aimed at weaning them from bad habits with the help of qualified professionals.

This happened at the Nigerian Entertainment Conference that took place last weekend at the Grandball Room of the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Kennis Music boss, Mr. Kenny 'Keke' Ogungbe and the Chairman of Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), Chief Anthony Okoroji, violently engaged in a war of words that almost marred the event of the day.

Chief Tony Okoroji confronted Kenny Ogungbe in the presence of journalists for daring to say in public that COSON owed him money.

"How could he say such a thing? And in public?" A visibly enraged Chief Okoroji fumed.

However, Kenny Ogungbe on his part maintained resilience over the matter, insisting he would stand by his words.
They exchanged hot abusive words including the 'F' word as they were pulled apart by concerned friends who feared the brawl may soon go physical.

Kenny Ogungbe warned Okoroji, that if anything happens to him after the brawl, he would be held responsible.

He went on to say, "After now, if anything happens to me, it is on your head."

The incident happened immediately after the first session of the conference where Mr. Kenny Ogungbe had been amongst a panel of discussants alongside DJ Jimmy Jatt, Sound Sultan, MI and Weird MC during which pertinent industry issues had been raised.

An issue raised by Weird MC on the exploitation of the works of Nigerian artistes, was further buttressed by Mr. Ogungbe to reporters gathered at the event.
It was Mr. Ogungbe's assertion that got Chief Okoroji furious.

After the heated argument, both of them were too angry to speak further on the issue.

AC Milan's fiery Italian Striker, Mario Balotelli, has come out to taunt Real Madrid players ahead of Tuesday night's decisive UEFA Champions League semi final clash with Borussia Dortmund in which Madrid trail by a heavy 4-1 score line. The taunt apparently seems to swing in the way of his Belgian model girlfriend, Fanny Neguesha, more that it does to Real Madrid players.

The Italy international was quoted by Spanish newspapers AS and Marca as saying: "If Real Madrid come back in the Champions League, I'll let my girlfriend sleep with them!"

Balotelli has more often than not been a controversial player, and he seems to love to court controversy at any given time.

A Speech Writing consultant and Managing Director of Speech Transition Company Limited, Endurance Agbobonye-Ajisegiri, a native of Uro Ivrogbo Iri in Isoko South Local Council of Delta State has been sent to her early grave by her husband.

The problem between Endurance, who trained speech writers for companies and schools, and her husband started when a female staff of Endurance's Speech Transition Company began to have an affair with her husband.

Endurance who had brought her husband into the business started suspecting her husband to be having a carnal affair with the said staff.
So she moved fast and sacked the lady from her company.

The sack of the woman turned out to be her undoing, as the hatred between Endurance and her husband grew.
They started having disagreements which led to physical confrontations.

So many times she has had to leave her husband's house and run to her sister's place as the man beat her up at the slightest provocation.

Things turned sour, when Endurance who had left her husband's home, innocently followed her husband's friend back to their matrimonial home in order to make peace with the man when she met her untimely death.

According to the Endurance's father, Elder Johnson Agbobonye, "I was not at home when it happened. I was at the sea side when they called me.
On Saturday April 13, a friend of my daughter's husband came to our house to come and carry Endurance so that they could go and meet the husband for settlement over the quarrel between them. He did not meet her in our house here; he had to go to her office to carry her to the husband's place.
"My daughter quarreled with her husband, which we settled. The following day, the young man sent me a text telling me he was not satisfied with the settlement. Immediately, I called my daughter to stay away from him because the content of the message he sent to me showed that he did not love her and did not want her."

He continued: "I warned her not to go to him. It was this friend of my daughter's husband that put pressure on her and carried her to the man on Saturday April 13 when I was not at home, on the ground that they wanted to settle the matter.
"The next day, I received a shocker from the husband, who called to say we should come to the hospital that Endurance had killed herself. Immediately I started coming from Ibeju-Lekki. Before I got to the hospital, the doctor had already called the police from Shasha Police Station to arrest the suspect."

"The doctor saw that it was a pure case of murder because my daughter's throat was sliced. They took me to where my daughter's body was laid and I started crying. I wept uncontrollably, I could not control myself."

"Her mother cannot sleep even as I am talking to you now. What will make me feel satisfied in this matter is for justice to be done. I want the man and his family to feel the pain my family and I are feeling now. She was the breadwinner of our family," he said.

Her elder sister, Mercy Amadi, told The Guardian that she was yet to believe that her sister was dead.
"I cannot accept that. I am yet to believe that someone my sister calls her husband has taken my sister's life. She was a vibrant and intelligent young lady. When my sister saw a cockroach in the bathroom, she would run out of the house, that was the person they had killed. I refuse to accept that! Look at her three-year-old daughter, she is with me now.

Sometime last week, I posted a story about a 16 year-old student of the American International School, who was kidnapped on his way to school.

The good news is that officers of the Lagos State Police Command have rescued him from the hands of his kidnappers.

According to information at my disposal, one of the abductors was reportedly killed during the rescue operation, while two others were arrested.

The alleged mastermind of the kidnap was the student's family driver, one Adebayo John, who was taking the teenager to school when the kidnappers struck.

The teenager was reportedly rescued by policemen attached to Ikoyi Division under Area 'A' Command, from the kidnappers den last Friday. The rescue operation was said to have taken place in a forest at Olorun Lekan village, Oja-Odan, in Ilaro, Ogun State.

On the day the incident happened, the family driver, while supposedly going to drop the teenager in school, picked the kidnap suspect and drove to their den in Ilaro, from where they called the victim's family two days later, demanding for a N60 million ransom.

The victim's father who had traveled out of the country the previous day was forced to return back to the country immediately, while his mother was said to have been admitted in hospital.

However, luck smiled their way on Friday, when the kidnappers were meant to receive the ransom, as operatives from Ikoyi, acting on a tip-off, stormed Ilaro, where they arrested one of the suspects, who during interrogation disclosed where the teenager was kept.

While navigating through the dreaded forest, two other members, the driver and one other person, who were said to have been waiting by the bush path for the ransom.

On sighting the policemen, one of them reportedly attacked them with a knife, following which he was shot.

The deceased suspect was reportedly discovered to be the brother of the driver.

While narrating his 10-day ordeal in the hands of his captors, the teenager was quoted to have said he never suspected he was kidnapped until they got to the bush.

He said, "Even when Mr. Adebayo stopped to pick up the men on the way, I did not bulge. I did not know where I was being taken to until I was taken to the forest.

"They kept me in a tent made with bamboo sticks, with fetish objects hung everywhere. At that point, I became afraid. I even thought they kidnapped both of us. I was scared all through.

"I was only fed twice. The first time I was given rice and the second time I was given pap and bean cake.

"They threatened to kill me if my father did not bring the ransom," the young boy concluded.

*Kidnappers everywhere in Lagos ehn, thank God he was found alive, wonder the traumatic experience he must have gone through*

The Action Congress of Nigeria has accused the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan of launching an unprecedented assault on the civil rights of Nigerian citizens, through the reported planned $40 million internet surveillance contract that will allow government to invade the privacy of citizens, especially journalists and those considered to be opponents of the administration.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in a statement on Sunday, posited that since the report of the contract, said to have been awarded to an Israeli firm, had not been denied several days after it was published, it was an indication that it was true.

The party said, "For a government that is increasingly paranoid, having failed to meet the yearnings and aspiration of the citizenry who are justifiable becoming restive by the day, the ability to spy on the internet communications of citizens as well as to intercept and read private emails, not to talk of being able to suppress unwanted connections, is a potent weapon against the civil rights of Nigerians as well as the constitutionally-guaranteed rights like freedom of expression, freedom of the press and freedom of association.

"It is common knowledge that the Jonathan-led administration has been getting a bad rap from Nigerians in the traditional media as well as the social media- a veritable platform for the citizens to vent their frustrations at a do-nothing government.

"It is also common knowledge that journalists have bourne the brunt of the administration's increasingly propensity to stifle freedom of expression and press freedom, while members of the opposition are being portrayed more and more as enemies of the administration, rather than being seen as indispensable allies in the nation's quest to evolve a strong and enduring democracy.

"These may have been the motivation for the administration to acquire the internet surveillance capability."

"However, no government in the history of our country, whether elected or otherwise, has this kind of brazen measure for whatever reason, hence it must raise serious concerns among the citizenry, their political representatives as well as civil liberties organisations," the ACN said.

The party accused the Federal Government of attempt to deceive Nigerians by saying the technology is to enable it to keep a tab on the insurgents who are rampaging in a section of the country, stressing that such justification violates the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. "In any case, who will police the use of the technology to ensure that it is not abused? The party queried.

According to ACN: "Desirable as it may be for the government to be able to gather useful intelligence on the terror groups that have held a section of our country by the jugular, nothing can justify what will essentially become a weapon of harassment, intimidation and even decimation of perceived opponents by a desperate and paranoid administration that is already firing poisoned arrows at those it sees as its enemies, within and outside its fold, in the run up to the 2015 elections.

"This is why we are calling on the National Assembly, civil liberties organisations, professional groups and ordinary citizens to speak out now before it is too late. No government should have the right to play a 'Big Brother' role in the lives of the citizens, because this will ultimately herald the return to autocratic rule and sound the death knell of our democracy," it said.

In what could be termed as an undercover job, two students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, Lagos, were allegedly pictured sniffing a substance believed to be cocaine.
The picture was taken secretly by a fellow student, who confirmed the girls are truly UNILAG students, but I am yet to carry out my own personal investigation on the case.

If this is true, then it is so sad how young students who are supposed to be in school studying, are allegedly engaging in consumption of hard drugs.
A similar situation was recorded at the Redeemer's University, Mowe, Ogun State, where some students were expelled for consumption of hard drugs.

This is the picture I managed to get.
Any UNILAG student can confirm this and get back to me before I carry out my own investigation.

Others were armed with a flick knife and a Swiss army knife, machetes and screwdrivers.
Sofyen fell down the stairs into the ticket hall and was attacked on the ground by a smaller group.

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Professor Dibu Ojerinde, escaped assassination by whiskers when hired assassins went after him.

The incident happened on Monday night when the intruders scaled through the fence of his house, entered through the backdoor and gained entrance into the house while the security men attached to the compound did not notice as they were stationed at the entrance of the house.

The security personnel which include two regular armed policemen and other private security guards at the gate did not take notice of the incident throughout the period the operations lasted.

Confirming the incident, the Registrar said according to the story narrated to him by the children and relations who were staying with him, they were terrorized during the operation as the assassins were continuously asking and looking for their father, the Registrar.

"They instructed one of the children to lead them into the Registrar's living and study rooms which they searched thoroughly but could not find Prof. Dibu as he went on official assignments."

At that point, the assassins decided to look for him through the ceiling of the house moving from one ceiling to the other as they locked up the occupants in one of the living rooms thinking the Registrar was hiding up in the ceiling.

They searched and scattered every hiding places the assassins suspected the Registrar may be hiding. It was after their target could not be found that they left the house.

According to Prof. Dibu, "nothing was taken out of the expansive residence despite the thorough searching conducted on the compound."

The Registrar confirmed he traveled officially in preparation for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) slated for today, Saturday, 27th April, 2013.
