Real Madrid have unveiled a £330m redesign plan they hope will turn their Santiago Bernabeu ground into the best stadium in the world.

German architects GMP's design won the international tender and work will begin at the end of the season.

A new exterior will be built that includes a retractable roof and is due to be completed by 2017.
"We want to make the Santiago Bernabeu the best stadium in the world," said Real Madrid President Florentino Perez.
"Our commitment is to continue increasing the heritage of our club, thus gain in economic strength, so we can continue to lead in an environment of increasing competition.
"We believe in a project that will enhance our image, brand and city that we also feel proud of."
Reports in the Spanish media  suggest half the financing for the project would come from selling naming rights and half from a bond issue among Real members.

The Bernabeu currently has a capacity of 85,454 but Real are yet to confirm whether this will change after the refurbishments.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have come to blows over the actor's crush on Hollywood's newest "It girl," Lupita Nyong'o.

Brad, 50, is said to quite like 31-year-old Lupita, who's been nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as "Patsey" in the Pitt-produced drama, 12 Years a Slave.

Pitt was able to hide his crush from Angelina for a while, but he let the cat out of the bag when he publicly gushed about the Kenyan beauty at the Producers Guild Awards in Beverly Hills on Jan. 19.

"She's very special, a very special young lady. We're going to see great things from her," he said.

After the show, Brad flew to Australia to reunite with Angie and their six kids, who have been Down Under while she's directing the World War II film Unbroken.

"He wasn't welcomed with open arms," a source told the National Enquirer.

"Angelina read him the riot act when he arrived. She told him that he didn't need to make his 'crush' on Lupita so obvious to the entire world.
Angie is working her tail off, juggling directing duties and caring for their kids. Meanwhile, Brad is running around on the other side of the globe acting like a carefree bachelor."

Sources say Brad and Lupita kept close throughout the event. When Leonardo DiCaprio snuck a kiss on Lupita's cheek on the red carpet, Brad stepped in and jokingly warned, "Hey, man, stay away from my girl!"

"If you didn't know better, you would have thought Brad and Lupita were girlfriend and boyfriend," said the source.

"He is so smitten with Lupita that he's already negotiating to line her up in another film that they can both star in together. He told her that he wants her to be his next leading lady."

"Brad's fixation with Lupita isn't sitting well with Angie. Despite his devotion to her and their children, Angelina can't let go of the nagging worry that Brad is on the prowl for the next hot thing to come along in Hollywood."

The incident, which occurred at about 10am on Tuesday, took the Oriuwa family from Okwelle Okigwe, Imo State, residents and neighbours by surprise, as no one thought that a little quarrel could lead to murder.

Trouble ensued when the suspect's generator, which she used in her shop in the building, caught fire. The victim, it was gathered, confronted his sister-in-law, cautioning her against carelessness that could set the building ablaze. The woman reportedly got angry and challenged the victim.

But while she was making the report, tenants in the building also came to the police station to report the death of the optician and the police arrested and detained the woman.

Following his death, youths in the area went on rampage, setting property belonging to the suspect on fire.

Meanwhile, the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba, while the body of the medical doctor has been deposited in an undisclosed mortuary.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, DSP Ngozi Braide, confirmed the incident and said investigation was on going.

They allegedly assaulted many hospital staffs on sight within the premises of the hospital, including Doctors, nurses and others.

An eye witness told DailyPost that many workers sustained serious injuries during the attack.

The source explained that the soldiers brought the corpse on Tuesday evening with the intention of depositing it in the hospital's morgue but were disappointment when the hospital rejected the corpse.

The hospital management said the mortuary was already congested and there was no more space to keep the corpse.

One of the injured medical workers said "All efforts made by the soldiers to deposit the corpse were unsuccessful, so they went back with the corpse .

The Nigeria Immigration Service, Ondo State Command, yesterday  discovered a 'baby factory' in Ilu-tuntun, Okitipupa Local Government Area.

The command told reporters in Akure that eight men and 11 women, allegedly cohabiting and producing children for the owner of the 'factory', were arrested with him.

Five were nursing mothers and five expectant mothers.

The Command Comptroller, Alhaji Al-Hassan Musa, said: "We were able to arrest these people by acting on the tip-off we got from Abuja.

A circular emanating from the headquarters informed us that an operator of a baby factory in Imo State had relocated to Ondo State. Our investigation led us to Ilu-tuntun. It also showed that the operator, who is said to be acting with a Cameroonian, has another such factory in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area."

Musa said the suspects would be handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons and Other Related Offences (NAPTIP) in Lagos.

One of the suspects, who identified herself as "Grace" and a student of Lagos State University (LASU) resisted arrest, claiming that she was pregnant for Mrs. Ogundeji's son.

Grace said: "Immediately I informed my husband to be about my pregnancy, he asked me to follow him to his mother's house in Okitipupa so that I will be properly cared for. Our wedding is on the way. I am not involved in such a criminal act and the person who is responsible for it is not denying it."

Some of the suspects and the alleged proprietor denied the allegations, saying they were relatives.

Students with an avid interest in Beyonce will soon be able to study for a diploma on the star now Rutgers University has added her to the curriculum.

Her husband, rapper Jay-Z, has already been honoured with a Georgetown University sociology course named after him, but now it's Beyonce's turn to be dissected in a classroom.

Rutgers University's Department of Women's and Gender Studies will soon be exploring the social and cultural significance of the Destiny's Child singer's music and image.

The course, 'Politicizing Beyonce', will allow fans and pop-culture vultures to explore the 30-year-old Single Ladies singer's alter ego Sasha Fierce, and debate the extent of control she has over her own image.

They will also debate whether her red hot persona is an outlet of female sexual empowerment or merely complying with western gender stereotypes.

In charge of the course is Rutgers PH.D. candidate Kevin Allred, who explained the importance of the course on the university's website.

'This isn't a course about Beyonce's political engagement or how many times she performed during President Obama's inauguration weekend,' he said.

'She certainly pushes boundaries. While other artists are simply releasing music, she's creating a grand narrative around her life, her career, and her persona.'

Students will also discuss other iconic female singers including Lady Gaga, Billie Holiday and Nina Simone.

It is not known what the Texas-born singer, who became a mum for the first time earlier this month to Blue Ivy, thinks of the new addition to the university's curriculum.

The US government says it will seek the death penalty against Boston Marathon bombings suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

US Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement: "The nature of the conduct at issue and the resultant harm compel this decision."

Seventeen of 30 charges against the 20-year-old carry the possibility of capital punishment, including using a weapon of mass destruction to kill.

The bombings killed three and injured more than 260 in April 2013.

Mr Tsarnaev has pleaded not guilty and no trial date has been set.

Prosecutors allege that Mr Tsarnaev and his deceased older brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, built and planted two pressure cooker bombs near the finish line of the marathon.

The brothers lived in the Massachusetts town of Cambridge, home of the prestigious Harvard University, after emigrating to the US in 2002 from the Caucasus region of southern Russia.

Officials believe they set off the bombs in retaliation against the US for its military action in Muslim countries.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed during a shootout with police days after the bombing. The younger brother was wounded and was eventually found inside a boat in a residential neighbourhood.

Prosecutors allege Mr Tsarnaev wrote about his motivation for the bombing on the inside of the boat.

He allegedly wrote the US government was killing "our innocent civilians" and "I can't stand to see such evil go unpunished".

Mr Tsarnaev is also charged with killing a university police officer and carjacking.

He will be charged under the federal death penalty law; Massachusetts abolished the use of capital punishment in 1984.

Since the federal death penalty was reinstated in 1988, 70 people convicted have been placed on death row.

But only three people have actually been executed, including Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh in 2001.

The police in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, have arrested and charged a dog with biting a bank worker's penis at Idowu Anisere Street, off Governor's Road in Ikotun, Lagos.

The police also charged the owner of the dog, Adebowale Gabriel, 31, before Mrs M.B. Folami at Ejigbo Magistrate's Court Lagos.

The dog was specifically charged with assault, while Gabriel was charged with negligence under the Criminal Code.

The arrest of the dog and Gabriel followed a complaint by the victim, Mr. Simon Anwam, to the police in Ikotun division that when he was walking on the street, the dog pounced on him and inflicted deep injury on his penis.

Narrating what happened, Anwam who hails from Akwa Ibom State, southsouth Nigeria, said when he was returning home from work and he had almost reached his house, he met Gabriel on the way holding his dog with chain.

He said he was surprised when the dog jumped on him and bit his penis before he could be rescued from it.

Anwam narrated that when he discovered that his trousers was stained with blood, he quickly rushed home to check his penis and discovered that he had been severely injured.

He complained that after the incident, he could not urinate easily. He explained that when he attempted to urinate, blood flowed from his penis and he had to urinate with the aid of a pipe.

Anwam said when he went to a private hospital for treatment he was referred to the General Hospital on Lagos Island.

Following the incident, the police in Ikotun division arrested the dog Gabriel.

Confirming the incident, Gabriel said he was surprised the way his dog attacked Anwam.

He said he was holding the dog with chain when the dog suddenly attacked the bank worker who was passing by.

Gabriel said he had pleaded with Anwam and his wife about the incident and he has also offered to pay for his medical treatment before the police charged him to court.

When the dog and Gabriel were about to be arraigned, their plea was not taken.

The prosecutor, Mr Nicholas Atumonye, told the court that the parties involved in the matter wanted to settle out of court.

He told the court that the complainant had written a letter of withdrawal.

If you ever for once thought that the 'sugar daddy' phenomenom particularly popular among  female undergrads is only popular in Nigeria, you thought wrong.

It appears in fact, that the trend may be very popular in the UK and US thanks to a notorious website called 'Sugar, which boosts of millions of members. See a new report which gives an insight on the fast growing 'sugar daddy/sugar baby trend after the cut:

Hundreds of students in the UK have signed up to a "Sugar Daddy" dating website within the past year in order to foot the cost of rising tuition fees, it has been revealed.

The site, which boasts over one million students worldwide on its register, matches wealthy individuals with impoverished "sugar babies" who are desperate to make ends meet at university. claims to arrange "mutually beneficial relationships" between wealthy (usually male) individuals and students. On average, a university Sugar Baby will receive a monthly allowance of £5000(N1.3million) from her Sugar Daddy. Sugar Babies have reported feeling required to have sex with their Sugar Daddies, wanting to get this part of the arrangement "over and done with as quickly as possible."

However, the site experienced a 54% increase in student membership in 2013.

As of January 1 2014, one million students worldwide have signed up to, the world's largest Sugar Daddy site. Among them are are 208 students from The University of Kent, 195 from The University of Nottingham and 175 from The University of Manchester.

Despite 64 out of 122 institutions raising the average cost of undergraduate degrees last year, British universities accepted a record high of half a million students to their courses. Founder and CEO of, Brandon Wade, maintains that there is a direct correlation between the 2012 rise in tuition fees and the site's popularity.

According to the CEO:

"The Student loans lead to endless debt which amounts to more than the average graduate who earns £21,000 can handle. Sugar Daddies provide real solutions to the problem of student debts,"
"We are not only helping students achieve financial freedom, but also indirectly relieving the government from the burden of unpaid loans... If less students depended on loans and more graduates paid off their loans, then the overall budget for higher education would decrease dramatically." He said.

Since it's launch in 2006, has attracted 2.7m members. Students account for over 42% of the Sugar Baby members, making them the site's largest demographic.

One young woman posted her experiences on the site, saying:

"I started on this site a few months ago, not knowing what I was doing. A few friends had referred me to this particular site so I tried it out. Almost a year later I have a sugar daddy and have met so many great men.

"Opportunities which I had never imagined had arisen. This site really helps young, smart, beautiful and ambitious women to get out there and get recognised... There are always going to be flakes but so far, every guy I have met up with has been real and always has something to offer, and not just money or sex."

In return, the site promises the Sugar Babies a "Modern Gentlemen", describing them as:

"You are always respectful and generous. You only live once, and you want to date the best. Some call you a mentor, sponsor or benefactor. But no matter what your desires may be, you are brutally honest about who you are, what you expect and what you offer." has released the following list of "The fastest growing Sugar Baby schools in the UK". The universities are ranked according to new sign-ups for 2013:

In a previous interview with GQ, SeekingArrangement CEO Wade defended his site saying:

"Calling women 'prostitutes' who want something more out of a relationship than just this abstract notion of love is a comment and a stigma that is born from pure jealousy.

"The truth is, in my opinion, love is a concept that's been invented by poor people.

"These people aren't wealthy, they aren't beautiful, they aren't the cream of the crop - so what do they have? They have love. For everyone else there's our website."

MultiChoice has announced it will launch a 24-hour channel on DStv dedicated to famous Olympian runner Oscar Pistorius's trial for killing his girlfriend, 29-year-old girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, Feb 14 last year.

The channel, DSTV Channel 199. which is going live a day before Oscar's trial begins promises "round-
the-clock" coverage of one of the blockbuster stories of the year.

World famous runner, Oscar Pistorius made news last year when he killed his girlfriend. He had shot the model and in the process unleashed a frenzy of media interest around himself as he was charged with murder.

Oscar said he mistook Steenkamp for a dangerous intruder and fired four shots in self-defense, but prosecutors allege the couple argued and Pistorius killed her intentionally and in a rage.

The channel will be active as from the 2nd of March, 2014.

Fenerbahce and Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike, is currently battling car dealers Coscharis, over a jeep he acquired for more than $100,000, but has since developed a fault.

Emenike is not happy, after he sent back the BMW X6 to the company and has not gotten it back. The car developed a problem, just a year after he bought it and the powerful frontman has since splashed another N10m on a Sienna Jeep in the interim.

"I am not happy with the way Cosharis (Motor Company) is treating me, I have been so calm with the whole situation for over four months now. They are really holding me to ransom, which is very bad for a reputable organisation like that," Emenike told MTNFootball.

"I bought a car worth N18m and after a year, it developed a fault. I took the SUV back to Coscharis for repairs. Since I took the car to them for repairs, nothing has been done. They have been giving me unacceptable excuses.

"I have told them to return my car so I could take it to Europe and repair or I should add money and take another car, but they have not cooperated in this whole situation.

"They are not just taking me seriously and it's very annoying. I just need my car back."

Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery and Real Madrid's Karim Benzema have both been acquitted over charges of soliciting an under-age prostitute.

Ribery, 30, admitted to paying for sex with Zahia Dehar back in 2009, but denied being aware that she was younger than 18 at the time of the incident.

Benzema, 26, rejected all accusations of having any sexual involvement with the same girl, with the Criminal Court of Paris ruling there was not enough evidence to prosecute either player.

The age of consent in France is 15, but paying for intercourse with someone below the age of 18 is classed as having sex with a minor.

Ribery, Benzema and Zahia all opted not to attend the court case.
