So there's good news and bad news. The good news is... I'm thanking God that I'm alive to give the bad news as a testimony.
Bad news is...
I was laying awake in bed at about 6am , and I just started smelling smoke. Stood up to shut off my tv and ac and realized it was coming from outside my door. Opened it to see the whole stairway was filled with huge gusts of black smoke/soot, and a fire was burning stuff downstairs. The smoke was so much I couldn't get down past it to see the source of the flames. Rushed back into my room and climbed down from the 2nd floor balcony with my dog... and then got help from the amazing workers and neighbours who helped me put out the flames.
Turns out the ac in the living room had caught fire.. I know a lot of ppl have been trying to call and I appreciate it. Maybe the fire burnt some of the network in the house because I can't receive calls LOL but instead of calling to say sorry pls just maybe say a prayer and thank God with me.

Thank God I was awake to smell the smoke. Thank God we caught it early enough and the damage wasn't so bad.. it basically burnt some of the stuff that was around it. So awards, portraits, and some small electronics. But thank God, Duke and I are alive and well. We only had to form James Bond and climb down from the balcony LOL. Thank God for my neighbors and the amazing workers in and around the compound for helping us escape via the balcony, helping put out the fire, and helping with the aftermath/cleaning.

Thank God for life. And I'm not even upset.. I'm just grateful for life and health and for the grace and mercy of God on my life. I figure I'm about to have the best year ever so the devil tried to throw a tantrum. But not today Satan. Not today, not ever. Now sit back and watch me be great. By God's grace. Amen. God bless you all.

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode and Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, will begin a two-day working visit of the National Stadium Surulere and various youth centres in the state tomorrow, Special Assistant to the Minister on Media, Nneka Anibeze, has disclosed.

The visit is connected with the plan by the ministry to hand over the National Stadium to Lagos State government. According to Anibeze, “the inspection begins what will eventually end up as a cooperation between the Federal Government and Lagos State to renovate the National Stadium. The edifice has continued to dilapidate after the last international game was played in the main bowl in 2005.”

Anibeze revealed that Governor Ambode expressed intent to give the stadium a face-lift last week, when he paid a courtesy and condolence visit to Dalung in Abuja.

Ambode had at the condolence visit tabled his intention of bringing the National Stadium to life. He said, “If this project pulls through, it will bring about the employment aspect of football and hosting of matches at the stadium. We want to bring back the football culture of Lagos State to the National Stadium after its renovation.”

Anibeze revealed that most stadia in the country had been up for concession following Federal Government’s inability to fund the renovations of most of the football grounds.

Dalung had earlier said, “We were trying to drive a concession but Lagos State’s interest in the National Stadium is what we call an overriding interest which is based on equity. If Governor Ambode is interested in the National Stadium then the concession process is already abated.”

While at the stadium, Dalung and Governor Ambode would inspect the stadium to assess the level of work to be done there before visiting the various youth centres in the state.

A former assistant to ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri, has described the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi as a “decorated monkey.”

Omokri made the remark in response to attack on his person from the camp of the former Governor of Rivers State.

The ex-Presidential spokesman had claimed that the Minister lied on the figures of $49.8bn he, Amaechi, claimed was pilfered from the national treasury by Jonathan.

Against this backdrop, a media aide to the Minister, David Iyofor, had called Omokri a lunatic.

Reacting to the attack, Omokri in an article sent to DAILY POST said, ”It has been brought to my attention the attack on my person by the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, after I exposed his lies with regards to the figure of $49.8 billion which he claimed former President Goodluck Jonathan pilfered from the national treasury.

“In my response to that false allegation, I stated with facts, figures and dates that not only did Mr. Amaechi lie, but that he is directly to blame for some of the economic challenges facing the nation. Unable to dispute my facts, Amaechi has resorted to insults and abuse on my person. My response is as follows:

“I will never, ever exchange insults with a lowlife. A lowlife with a ministerial position is still a lowlife just as a decorated monkey is still a monkey. Other than holding one government position or the other, Amaechi has never been associated with any private success so he is very insecure when people challenge his unenviable record in government with facts.

“To borrow a line from a hit song, I Reno Omokri, know who God says I am, where he says I am at and what he says I will be. I do not need a government position to maintain my relevance. I was somebody before I went into government, I am somebody after leaving government and by the grace of God, I will forever remain somebody without a government position, so nothing a pot bellied man can say or do to me can ever alter what God has said about me.

“I would rather advise Rotimi Amaechi to respond to the issues I raised, namely that there was no missing ‘$49.8 billion’ and that on September 21, 2012, he called on the Federal Government to share the funds in the Excess Crude Account, and that it was he, Rotimi Amaechi, as Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, that led some state governors to take the Federal Government to court to compel it to share the proceeds from the Excess Crude Account because then President Jonathan insisted on saving the money, a case that they won and therefore it is hypocritical of him to accuse former President Jonathan of not saving for the rainy day.

“I challenge Rotimi Amaechi to separate himself from his government positions and see if he can maintain his relevance. He borrows his relevance from government. He does not add relevance to government. In two years as a minister, the only ‘achievement’ he can boast of is the Abuja-Kaduna railway that was built and completed by the very same Goodluck Jonathan he likes to castigate.

“President Jonathan has been out of office for two years. I am no longer his aide, neither am I on salary, yet I continue to be loyal to him. Can Amaechi say the same of himself? Is he capable of being loyal to anybody or institution without having something to gain? Is that not why his stomach is protruding and potbellied? Because he is only loyal to his stomach! No wonder he admitted spending $500,000 to host Professor Wole Soyinka to a one day dinner. Amaechi epitomizes stomach infrastructure!

“It is this loyalty to stomach only that has placed Amaechi in the awkward position where ALL the living ex-Governors of Rivers state are against him along with the incumbent Governor, Nyesom Wike. A man who cannot command loyalty at home and can’t walk the streets of Port Harcourt without armed guards.

“What Amaechi does not understand is that there is life after government. Whenever President Muhammadu Buhari retires from politics, he will be received with joy by Katsina people. Whenever Bola Tinubu retires, he will be received with arms wide open by Lagos people. But who will receive Amaechi when he retires? Certainly not Rivers people who view him as a serial betrayer of their interests and the interests of his zone. A man who can sell his own mother for a useless government position cannot expect to retire in the motherland. Maybe Amaechi will retire to Daura with Buhari as his domestic servant and in house sycophant for life!

“Has he forgotten so soon how he was publicly disgraced by his colleague, the minister of Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, when he was trying to sabotage the Maritime University at Okerenkoko? While others are attracting development to their zones, Amaechi is subtracting progress from his zone. Thank God for Kachikwu who told him that “We are not going to throw away the baby with bathwater. We deal with the issues but the university will be developed. If he (Amaechi) does not want it in Maritime, I will take it in petroleum”?

“Even if Rotimi Amaechi spends all day insulting me directly or through proxies, it takes absolutely nothing from me. If insults could kill, Donald Trump would be dead, but he is in the White House instead.

“A lizard with an overinflated ego is still a lizard, not an alligator. Rotimi Amaechi may have left his village but his village never left him! That is why he continues to display his inferiority complex by dressing in ill fitting designer clothes bought at huge expense! Alas, he is trying to suppress the memory of when he wore the same clothes for three days. But the man makes the clothes, the clothes don’t make the man. Poverty mentality is his undoing!

“He calls himself lion of Ubima. A lion with a pot belly and that can’t win elections? If he wants to see a real lion he should go to Bourdillon!

“Finally, rather than insult me, Rotimi Amaechi should seek medical attention for his protruding pot belly. Doctors warn that a protruding belly, like his, is a symptom of too much food and too little exercise.

“Obviously, Rotimi Amaechi should focus more on exercising his body and his brain. Unfortunately, he seems to only exercise his mouth by eating too much and talking too much which is why he is prone to frequent verbal and anal diarrhea.

The Ondo State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, has vowed that he will not collect any salary until all the workers in the state’s civil service are paid their salaries.

He appealed to the doctors and nurses who are currently on strike to end their industrial action and embrace dialogue with his government.

Akeredolu stated this in Akure, the Ondo State capital, while formally meeting with the workers in the state civil service, on Monday.

In his maiden address to the workers, the governor said all the issues relating to the payment of their salaries would top the agenda of his administration.

He disclosed that a committee would be set up by the government to address how the backlog of salaries would be paid and how to move the state forward.

He said, “I am aware of your pains and agony. I feel your pains and what you are going through, and I can see your sufferings. I am surprised that you are still able to put up these smiles without seven months’ salaries. No doubt, a labourer deserves his wages.

“A committee will soon be set up to address this salary issue. We are set to move forward and at the end of the day, we will all win. Let us join hands to work together for the development of this state and I can assure you that with God on our side, we shall scale all obstacles to make Ondo great.”

FIFA Best and Ballon D'or player of the year nominee Antoine Griezmann could very well be heading to Manchester United this summer if actions by his younger brother, who also acts as his agent is anything to fall for.
Man United won the English Football League cup on Sunday night and Theo Griezmann, a self confessed Man United fan took to Twitter to celebrate the win, fueling speculation that the English club could make a mouthwatering move for the France and Atletico Madrid star.

When Theo was questioned over his allegiance to Man United, he replied with a childhood picture of himself wearing a Manchester United training top. This could mean his client and brother, Antoine could favor a move to Man United this summer.

The management of Queen’s College, Yaba, in Lagos, has sent senior students home, after two students allegedly died of diarrhoea, between Thursday, February 23 and Friday, February 24, 2017.

Two female boarding students, Vivian Osuinyi and Bithia Itulua reportedly died after vomiting and stooling after they allegedly ate Spaghetti and drank water served in the Refectory by the college cooks.

The school sent the students home on the directive of officials from the Federal Ministry of Health and their colleagues from Lagos State who have opened investigations into the deaths.

Already, the officials from the Federal Ministry are in the school, to determine what allegedly killed the two female students.

Following outbreak of diarrhoea in the school, parents, whose wards resumed on Monday, contacted officials of the Parents Teacher Association (PTA), to find out the situation of things.

Only Senior Secondary III students resumed on Monday, to complete their examinations while the junior students were expected in school next week, but, with the outbreak of diarrhoea and the directive by health officials to send the students home, it will affect the resumption of other students.

Some parents told Daily Sun, yesterday, that the school management ought to have taken pre-emptive measures when, a month ago, some students started vomiting and stooling in the dormitory and were rushed to the sickbay by their colleagues.

A senior staff confirmed to Daily Sun that health officials have directed that the SS III students will be sent home to enable Lagos State health officials investigate the source of the diarrhoea as well as carry out environment exercise in the school.

“As soon the SS III students finish their Mathematics examination, today, they will go home. We have informed parents about their coming home. The health officials insisted the students must vacate the college to allow for thorough investigation.”

The staff, however, added that, “some parents are just blowing the issue out of proportion. The issue started a month ago when some students complained and were treated at the sickbay and two weeks ago, a student vomited and stooled and she died later. The new Old Girls Association president called the principal to inform her of another death which we are yet to confirm.’’

Daily Sun gathered that Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole has visited the school.

Also, it was gathered that Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris called to instruct that health officials be allowed to carry out their investigation,.

Director of Information and Press of the Education Ministry, Mrs. Ihuoma, did not respond to calls and text messages sent to her phone on what the ministry was doing about the situation at at Queen’s College.

The naira continued to strengthen on the parallel market on Monday to close at N435 to the dollar, stronger than N450 to the dollar at which it closed last Friday, as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) continued to relentlessly pump the greenbank into the interbank foreign exchange market to meet the demand of bank customers.

But the buy rate of the greenback rose slightly to N430 to the dollar Monday, against N440 last Friday.
Several parallel market operators who had been stockpiling dollars for months, were seen lamenting that the CBN’s intervention was forcing them to offload their dollars at a loss.

But as they bemoaned their losses, market analysts cautioned that they were likely to incur more losses, as the CBN, in keeping with its determination to increase liquidity in the FX market Monday pumped a fresh $180 million into the interbank market.

A breakdown of this amount showed that the CBN sold $100 million through its special wholesale intervention forwards and pumped an additional $80 million to the banks, specifically for school fees, medicals, and Business and Personal Travel Allowanced, among other invisible transactions.

CBN also said it would with “immediate effect give Travelex $4 million weekly to satisfy demand for travel allowances at the Lagos and Abuja airports”.

In a statement released Monday, the CBN’s acting Director, Corporate Communications, Mr. Isaac Okorafor, said the central bank’s commitment to providing enough FX for legitimate business remains unshaken, reiterating that it would do “everything possible” to maintain the steady supply of forex to the market.

In all, the new FX measures introduced by the CBN aimed at improving liquidity in market has led to the appreciation of the naira by N85 in just one week.

Analysts are projecting that the naira might appreciate to about N400 to the dollar on the parallel market this week, effectively meeting the CBN’s objective of closing the gap between interbank and parallel market rates.
The CBN had maintained that much of the dollar demand was a bubble created by speculators and hoarders of the greenback.

Also, speaking on a programme monitored on Raypower FM in Lagos Monday, Okorafor urged currency dealers and others hoarding dollars to make hay and sell their holdings in order to avoid heavy losses.

He added: “I want to assure that we would provide enough liquidity in the market and we will sustain liquidity in the market. The country is opening up and foreign reserves are improving. Many people outside are beginning to realise the huge opportunities in this country.

“You can see the subscription of the Eurobond. It clearly shows the potential in this economy. This economy is bottomless when it comes to investment opportunities.

“So, ultimately, the exchange rate would improve and anybody hoarding dollars would suffer for it.”
Responding to a question on the impact of the continuing ban of 41 items from accessing the official FX market, the CBN spokesman said: “The savings we have made from the elimination of the 41 items from the FX market have been very huge.

“Nigerians are beginning to adapt to made-in-Nigeria products and indeed we have supported some local manufacturers.

“Apart from rice, we are funding the production of palm oil and other produce.
“We have two firms now producing toothpicks in Nigeria. So, you can see that even though people criticised the removal of the 41 items, which is one thing that we held on to, to change the entire economic landscape of this country.

“No country is known to have succeeded or became great by depending on outsiders for its food, fashion, drinks, and others. We cannot continue like that.
“We must change our appetite for foreign goods and services. We are determined to fund the FX market.”
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s external reserves increased further to $29.414 billion, according to latest figures made available by the CBN.

THISDAY’s findings showed that this represented an increase of 14 per cent over $25.843 billion at the end of last year.

The police have launched a manhunt for a boat conductor, Kole Adebayo, over the death of Abiona Ajisefinni at Igbogun village in Lekki Local Council Development Area of Lagos State on February 15.

Last Friday, the police arrested the community’s Baale, Adekunle Onileiyan, but granted him bail to enable him produce the suspect.

It was gathered that Adebayo’s father, a boat operator, was billed to attend a meeting at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Panti, Yaba, but did not show up.

His absence was said to have prompted the arrest of the Baale who came to represent him.

According to sources, Adebayo stabbed the deceased with a sharp object while working as a conductor aboard his father’s boat.

It was gathered that the suspect had a disagreement with the late Ajisefinni’s sister, Abosede, who was a passenger on the boat.

The Nation learnt that Adebayo plucked some bananas from the bunch Abosede bought in the market, leading to quarrel between them. It was learnt that the argument led to a fight when they got to shore.

The late Ajisefinni, who came to the waterfront to assist his sister with her load, sighted them fighting and rushed to her defence.

Having settled the quarrel and scolded Adebayo for fighting with a woman, the late Ajisefinni carried his sister’s load and headed home.

But unknown to him, the still enraged Adebayo allegedly pursued him stabbed him from behind.

Adebayo was said to have fled the community with a friend, Asumo Giwa after the attack.

A relative of the deceased who gave his name as Ahmed, said: “There was disagreement over payment for the banana because the boat conductor was just eating the banana the woman had bought for sale. In the course of the argument, Abosede told the conductor that she has his age mates as younger brothers at home and that one of them was around to assist her.

“Immediately, the boat conductor heard younger brother, he approached Abiona Samuel Ajisefinni (deceased), who was assisting his sister to carry some goods and stabbed him in the neck with a spear. The boat conductor is a village tout but he worked with his father that day.

“The deceased was rushed to Akodo General Hospital but died while in transit. The murder case was reported at Akodo Police Station but later transferred to SCIID Panti, Lagos Mainland. We are just pleading with the police to ensure justice is done. Our son should not die in vain.”

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria has arrested two Chinese nationals, Taolung Shen and Xu Jing Yau, who were said to have dealt in substandard tyres worth over N5bn.

The suspects, according to a statement on Sunday, were paraded following their arrest, and the sealing of the warehouse where they had been cloning different sizes of tyres under different brand names.

The suspects, the statement added, churned out the substandard tyres into the Nigerian market under brand names such as Powertrac, Aptany, Harmony, Duraturn, Bearway, City Tour, Winda, Glory, Chachland, City Grand, Grandsonte and Sunny.

According to SON, the suspects brought the substandard tyres into Nigeria by stuffing them into one another.

“Sometimes as many as five tyres were stuffed into one and the tyres would have bent and ruptured in several places, thereby looking weak and slack.

“But the Chinese adorned the tyres with new labels and shinny linings to create the impression of being new and healthy,” SON said.

Some of the tyres found in the warehouse had post-dated manufacturing dates.

The agency’s Director General, Osita Aboloma, who conducted journalists round the warehouse, described the tyres as dead on arrival, saying allowing the sale of such tyres in the country amounted to “surreptitiously taking away the lives of millions of Nigerians.”

He observed that by stuffing the tyres into one another and conveying them through the sea from China to Lagos, the quality of the tyres had already been compromised.

Aboloma also noted that the crude way the tyres were separated on arrival in Nigeria and the poor storage facility, without sufficient aeration, in the warehouse had further compromised their quality.

“The SON Directorate of Compliance intercepted one of their trucks on the highway, tracked it and then this.

“You can see the amount of danger that these people are posing to our people and our economy just because they want to make huge profit at the expense of the lives of Nigerians.

“It is a clear case of investing millions in illicit business in order to take away the lives of millions of Nigerians, to destroy the lives of millions of Nigerians. If we allow something like this, it will amount to killing Nigerians,” Aboloma said.

The DG said there would be no hiding place for people who dealt in adulterated products in the country.

“I want to reiterate that there is no hiding place for those who deal in substandard products as they would be caught and their products confiscated. Today’s feat is an example,” he said.

Aboloma advised users of automobile tyres nationwide on the need to be extra-cautious when making purchases of such products.

He urged tyre users to henceforth demand that dealers indicate the manufacturing dates on the receipts, so as to make the seller take responsibility on any product sold by them.

The Department of State Services, on Sunday, said it had recovered some weapons and 21 Certificates of Occupancy among others from two cars on the premises of a company, Dunes Investment and Global Properties Limited, Abuja.

The DSS, in a statement in Abuja by an official, Tony Opuiyo, alleged that the Cs of O,  weapons and other recovered items belonged to a former Governor of Benue State, Mr. Gabriel Suswan.

All attempts to speak with Suswam proved abortive as his telephone indicated that it was switched off while a text message, which was delivered to his telephone, had yet to be responded to as of press time on Sunday.

The PUNCH learnt that Suswan, who honoured the DSS invitation on Sunday, was still being detained as of the time of sending this report on Sunday night.

The DSS said it executed a search warrant on the company, which is located at 44 Aguiyi Ironsi Way, Maitama, Abuja, between 9pm on Saturday, February 25 and 2.42am on Sunday.

According to the DSS, no fewer than a total of 85 rounds of ammunition, one Glock pistol; one mini-uzi, a Submachine Gun, and one AK-47 rifle were recovered from the two cars on the premises.

Other items recovered from the premises, according to the security agency, include 23 luxury designer watches and 45 keys to various exotic cars.

It stated, “The operation was informed by intelligence that some incriminating items were stashed in the boots of cars parked at the property, particularly a Mercedes Benz S550 (BWR 135 AH), and Masarati 4.7 (BWR 207 AJ), which were subsequently confiscated.”

The DSS said at 10pm on Saturday, in the presence of two private security officers employed by Dunes Investment, the cars were searched.

It added, “The following items were recovered:

(i) Glock pistol with two magazines and a total of 29 rounds of ammunition

(ii) Mini-Uzi with two magazines containing 10 rounds and four rounds respectively;

(iii) Forty-two extra rounds of ammunition contained in a pack and

(iv) One AK-47.”

The DSS added that it also seized 21 Certificates of Occupancy and one offer of statutory right of occupancy.

It stated, “Following this discovery, the service launched further investigation, which revealed that the cars and the recovered items belong to the former Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, who has already been invited by the service and presently helping in the investigations.”

The DSS warned persons and groups that it would “no longer tolerate any acts of lawlessness by those who ought to be law-abiding and responsible citizens.”

It warned politicians against hate speeches, saying it would get tough with those heating up the polity.

“The service has also observed with total dismay the inciting utterances of some political actors whose activities heat up the polity.

“It also wishes to express its disappointment with these politicians who, in their desperation, are engaging in hate speeches and even sponsorship of radio campaign jingles when the electoral umpire has not authorised such campaigns in line with the Electoral Act,” the agency stressed.

The DSS also expressed concern with what it called “the unpatriotic involvement of some media outfits in these divisive tendencies which negate their constitutional role as the fourth estate of the realm.”

It added, “In line with its statutory mandate of maintaining the peace and internal security of the country, the service hereby restates its commitment to go after anyone, no matter how highly-placed, who engages in acts capable of causing the breach of peace in the country.”

A lecturer in the English Department, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida University, Lapai, Niger State, Isiaq Yusuf, popularly called I.G. Yusuf, has become an object of ridicule after he was caught naked in his student’s apartment.

The fiancé of the 400-level student and his friend, who caught Yusuf while he was allegedly prepared to have sex with her, made him to mop the living room, wash the toilet, and took his nude pictures, which had gone viral.

The lecturer had reportedly insisted on sleeping with the student so she could pass ENG 201 titled, “History of English Language in Nigeria”.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the final year student, who had failed the course consecutively, became frustrated and feared the lecturer could fail her again, thereby extending her year of study.

She was said to have told her fiancé about the problem she was having with the lecturer and a plan was made to end the lecturer’s harassment.

“ENG 201 is taken in the first semester and exams will soon commence. Last Wednesday, the fiancé and his friend went to Mercy’s residence outside the campus. The lecturer was bent on having sex with her before she could pass the course.

“They told her to invite Mr. Yusuf to come and do what he was demanding while they hid in the toilet. As the lecturer removed his clothes to sleep with her, they came out of the toilet. They gave him a mop to clean the toilet and the living room,” one of the students, who did not want his name in print, told our correspondent.

Another student said the lecturer had been accused of sexually harassing female students.

“But there was no evidence to nail him until now. The department is aware of the incident and it has been taken up by the school management. According to information, he will face a panel on Monday (today) or Tuesday,” he added.

An alumnus of the university, who finished from the department, told PUNCH Metro that he had advised the lecturer to get married.

“He is about 50-year-old and currently studying for his PhD. I had advised him to stop chasing female students and start his own family. This is a big shame and a lifetime embarrassment,” the ex-student added.

The Chairman of the university’s Servicom Unit, which sees to complaints lodged to the school, Dr Ebenezer Ogungbe, said he learnt about the incident on the social media, adding that appropriate disciplinary actions would be taken.

He said, “There are laid down rules when things like this happen. So, the rules will be followed. A committee will be put in place to investigate the matter so that justice is done.”

The management, on the institution’s website, confirmed that a committee had been set up to investigate the case and promised to do justice to the case.

The statement read, “The university management is aware of the recent unfortunate incident between a male lecturer and a female student. In view of this, the management has set up a committee to investigate the immediate and remote cause(s) of the incident. The committee is headed by the deputy vice-chancellor and involves all stakeholders in the matter.

“Accordingly, all parties involved are hereby advised to exercise restraint. The university community and the general public are assured of the management’s resolve to take appropriate disciplinary action against any party found guilty.”

However, the lecturer denied the allegation that he attempted to have sex with the student. He stated that she connived with some men to kidnap him on his way home around 10pm on Tuesday, adding that he was forced to remove his clothes.

He said, “There was a test conducted by a fellow lecturer on Tuesday for 400-level students. I don’t take any course at that level. They had to be split into two and the lecturer invited me to assist him to administer the test. Towards the end of the test, I noticed there was a boy sitting in front of the girl. He raised his paper up for the girl to copy.

“I saw them and warned the boy. He just smiled instead of him to obey my warning and continued. I asked to forward his paper if he had finished and he reluctantly forwarded it to me. The rule of test is that if you are found cheating, we will tear your paper. I wrote on his paper ‘found cheating’. I tore the paper and threw it into a dustbin.

“Later in the evening, I began to receive calls from this girl, asking me to see her. She said the boy whose paper I tore had not let her have peace and that he wanted to see me so that the lecturer could consider him for a make-up (test). I told her she should let us meet the next day.

“On my way home, as I reached a junction leading to her house, I saw her standing by the roadside with some men. As soon as she entered my car, the men also entered from behind and pressed a metal on my back. So, I drove until they got to the house.

“As soon as I got into the room, they removed my clothes and poured water on me. They demanded N2m ransom from me. I have been traumatised. Presently, I have been suspended and will appear before a panel on Monday (today).”

Yusuf explained further that she had never taught the student ENG 201, saying that she “actually failed two courses he taught her in 300-level.”

“She passed four courses I had taught her in 100 and 200 levels,” he added.

THE ‎Federal Government ‎has appealed to Nigerians to stop referring to Nigeria as “Najia” to keep its originality.

‎Making the appeal the Director-General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Garba Abari told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday that the new trend of making funky the original name of Nigeria was worrisome and not in the best interest of the country.

“We try in all our advocacy visits to insist that Nigeria must be referred to as Nigeria and not Naija.

“So, our schools have a role to play in this; the media itself has also got a very fundamental role to play because it is the media that helps in the propagation of this kind of misnomer.

“All of us, as individuals, as corporate organisations, as media, whether broadcast, print or online, must wake up to the reality.

“That the more we use these misnomers referring to our country, the fallout of it is that, a significant percentage of our younger ones will not even remember that Nigeria is the original name of our country,” he said.

“I want to appeal to all Nigerians, young and old to always refer to our country as Nigeria.”

Mr. Abari also urged parents to key into the efforts to preserve the country’s original name by discouraging their children and wards from referring to Nigeria as “Naija”.

A 12-year-old housemaid, identified only as Mary, has disappeared with her boss daughter, Faith Ayeh, in the Iju Ishaga area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Mary had been employed by the family through an agent about five months ago.

The incident happened on Kudirat Abiola Estate, Akute Road, Iju Ishaga.

Mary was said to be working directly with the woman of the house, Mrs. Glory Ayeh, who had a frozen foods shop on the street.

However, the suspect reportedly went out with the victim last Thursday, and their whereabouts had remained unknown.

Faith’s father, Paul, told our correspondent that his family had been shattered by the incident, saying efforts to locate them had been abortive.

He said, “My family needed a house help and one of my wife’s friends arranged one for us. She brought Mary to my family about five months ago. She is the same age with my daughter.

“I was told that last Thursday, Mary disappeared from the house with my daughter. Our driver said he saw them with a bag.

“He said when he queried them, Mary answered that my wife asked them to take the bag to her shop. Since then, we have not heard anything.”

He said the matter, which was reported at the Iju Ishaga Police Division, had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba.

Paul said the agent who brought the suspect to the family had been arrested, adding that she was assisting the police with investigations.

Our correspondent was told that the suspect, who hails from Benue State, was staying with her parents in Ibadan, Oyo State, before she was brought to live with the Ghanaian family.

The victim’s mother, Glory Ayeh, said the agent was a relative of the suspect.

“I never sent them on any errand. She lied to take my daughter away,” she added.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, saying it had been transferred to the SCIID.

Eke Ifeanyichukwu Emmanuel is 2015/2016 best graduating student of the University of Nigeria, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.83.

In an interview with Vanguard Learning, Eke revealed that in order to survive as a student, he used ropes as belts and drank garri daily.

Read excerpts below:

I am Eke Ifeanyichukwu Emmanuel, a first class graduate of the department of Microbiology, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

What were the challenges you passed through while in school?

I had a whole lot of challenges. One of them was financial challenge. I am from a very humble background. We reside in Aba.

I remember in my first and second years, I used to drink garri (cassava flakes) and eat Fibre active
biscuit. It was a daily ration to me. I also used ropes as belts as a student. I remember then, I had few clothes. No shoes to where, only slippers.
Having money to pay my fees was an issue. I stayed in the hostel from first year till I graduated. In my first year, I was having an eye challenge. Then, I would be seated in front of the classroom. Yet, I would not see what was written on the board. No money to go to the hospital for check up talk less of getting glasses.
I had a D in a three unit load first year course. It was a motivational factor that spurred me into reading more.
What is your dream having graduated from the university?

My dream is to continue giving my best. I see myself as an educationalist. I want to establish schools. I want to change the ways our secondary school students are being taught.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Sunday arrested one Oruku Oluwafemi, a car dealer, for forgery in the case involving five former students of Federal University of Technology Akure and Adekunle Ajasin, Akangba (AAUA) respectively.
His arrest followed an investigation on the real owners of the cars belonging to Fasakin Adeleke Paul (21), Ogundile Ademola James Olasunkanmi (23), Abudu Adeniyi Tayo (a.k.a) Kolawole Tajudeen) (20). Others are Ifeobu Ugochukwu (21) and Olusola Franklin Akusanmi (21), after their parents approached the court for a release of the cars recovered from them at the point of arrest and stating that they bought the cars for their children. Oluwafemi who is a car dealer, after he was approached by the parents of the suspects, with intent to hide the source of the cars, forged some receipts by changing the names of the initial owners of the cars to that of their parents.
Olusola however confessed to his actions and that he was not aware that they were being prosecuted by the EFCC.

It would be recalled that suspected internet fraudsters were arraigned by the Commission on Friday January 12, 2017 before Justice Abdu-Dogo of the Federal High Court, Akure on a 53-count charge bordering on conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence, possession of fraudulent documents and forgery.

This is the 200 level History and Diplomatic student of the University of Abuja who was reportedly found dead last night in front of the school’s permanent site gate.

According to a Facebook user who shared the story, the deceased was coming to school from home when she was attacked by armed robbers.

While trying to get away from them, she mistakenly ran to the road and was hit by a car.

The supposed eyewitness AbdulKereem wrote:

A pregnant woman, identified as Chinagorom Fustine, has been killed after her car plunged into the Lagos Lagoon from the Mekwen Bridge, Bonny Camp, inward Marina area of the state.

The vehicle, with number plate, Lagos MUS 38 BL, reportedly plunged into the lagoon on Saturday.

The driver of the Kia Rio, identified as Felix Aniele, was said to have swum out to the river bank, where he was rescued.

However, before help could come the way of Fustine, she was said to have died.

The General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Adeshina Tiamiyu, said the car was towed to the Bar Beach Police Station, while the corpse was deposited in the Mainland General Hospital Mortuary, Yaba.

He said, “We received a distress call regarding a car that plunged into the lagoon at the Mekwen Bridge at about 7.47pm on Saturday.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the silver colour Kia Rio, with two occupants, plunged into the lagoon around that time. The driver swam out to the river bank, while the other occupant, a female, was trapped.

“Emergency responders, assisted by the local divers, were able to recover the car from the lagoon and the dead body of the woman.”

Tiamiyu advised motorists to observe rules while plying the road.

The spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency, South West zone, Ibrahim Farinoye, said the victim, who was pregnant, was recovered around 11.47pm on Saturday.

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected robber, Gbenga Babatunde, for allegedly robbing some residents of the state.

The police said the 25-year-old was arrested after a failed attempt to rob a woman who had withdrawn money from an Automated Teller Machine point in Alaba Rago Market, Ojo, Lagos State.

The police allegedly recovered a locally-made shotgun with two cartridges from the suspect.

“We gathered that he was not alone. He had an accomplice, who managed to escape after the botched operation,” a policeman said.

The suspect reportedly confessed to the crime, saying he went into robbery about two years ago.

He said, “I have been in the crime since I met Samson (the accomplice) at a joint in Alaba two years ago. Since then, we have been working together. We have robbed about 35 people. What we usually did was to get to any ATM point by 4am and hide.

“As soon as our victims collected the money, we usually accosted them and would collect the money and escape. The largest money we collected was N40,000. Yesterday (Saturday), we collected N12,500.

“This morning (Sunday), we wanted to collect money from a lady and she ran away. We thought she had gone, not knowing that she went to inform the RRS. That was around 5am. They arrested me, but my partner escaped.”

Also recovered from the suspect was a First Bank MasterCard, belonging to one Iweka Christopher Uchenna, and a Diamond Bank debit card, owned by one Nkechi Esther Idoko.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said, “The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.”

The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Sunday said the Federal Government would at the appropriate time convert the new official residence being built for the Vice President to another use.

Osinbajo said this in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, amid continued criticism of the project which is expected to gulp over N7b.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory, Dino Melaye, had disclosed recently that only the security post, also known as gateman’s house, in the building will gulp N250m.

This was revealed on Thursday by the ‎Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory.

But Akande said the decision to build the new residence and the controversial gatehouse preceded the present administration.

He said Osinbajo’s position had remained that his present official residence, Akinola Aguda House, is good enough for him.

He gave an indication that the 14 building in the residence which is already in about 85% completion stage would be used for another purpose.

The statement read, “For the umpteenth time, we like to clarify that the proposed plan of the immediate past administration to build a new official residence for the occupant of the Office of the Vice President, including the controversial gatehouse preceded this administration.

“The project which started in 2010, was initiated and funded by the immediate past administration, but had never featured in the two budget proposals of the Buhari administration: neither in the 2016 nor the 2017 spending plans.

“Any suggestion therefore that this project benefits our administration or that it reflects our spending style or preferences is not only misleading but blatantly false.

“Besides, the incumbent Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has said publicly that he considers Aguda House, which he currently occupies, a befitting official residence for the Vice President and sufficient for his needs.

“While the project is now about 85% complete, the Federal Government, in the circumstances, will decide at the appropriate time what is the best use for the 14 buildings already on the project site.”

At the Rivers state gala night hosted in honor of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo some days ago, comedian Klint da Drunk who performed at the event, gave Osinbajo his hard earned N5000. He quickly reminded the Vice President that in the bible, it is said that when you give, you will receive back, pressed down, shaken together and running over.

Osinbajo in his very smart and hilarious response said ...

"Everything has been going well until Klint da Drunk gave me an expensive N5000. I have kept it close to his excellency, the governor, in case he asks for it back because he can say that I was drunk when I gave you the money. I must remind him that the scripture that he referred to which suggest that if you give you will be given more, is when you give to God and not to an Ijebu man"he said

OAP Freeze has replied Kiibati Bankole, host of Merrybet Celebrity Fans Challenge, after she finally spoke about his alleged debt claims.

He shared the above text message conversation and wrote;

[b]
"@kiibati, -
How come you were still begging me, less than two weeks to the event, to bear with you as you will pay N500k, which you never did, and you never called or texted me to cancel off my appearance.
-
You obviously have been doing this for a while so it's in your DNA, do you know how many people I have met randomly, who told me that this very typical of you?
-
The last time I did business with you, it took almost a year to get my complete payment. But like they say that one Na story for the gods.
-
Obviously, you are not very versed when it comes to contracts, if perhaps you were, you won't make unintelligent statements like "the stage manager concluded by your harassment that you were just being a passionate football fan and eventually let you go on stage with the celebrity friend you brought to the event".
-
If the stage manager just put me on stage as you claim in your 'body of lies', how come there is an email from you, involving the other party and I, just before we went on stage, with the 'orijo' of the questions we would be asked?
-
We had a contractual agreement, I could be sued for not showing up, and you will be, for not paying me, as there is no history of you at anytime calling off our agreement, verbally or through phone calls, texts or emails.
-
This would serve as a deterrent not just to you, but all other OAPs and celebrities.
If you choose for any reason, not to honour a contract, there are ways to go about it. You can't just decide not to show up, or not to pay for services, coming up with dodgy excuses and lies.
-
Kiibati, I'm not broke, this has nothing to do with money, it's the flaws in your character that I am bringing to light. ~FRZ. -

Attached are copies of our correspondence, up until the day of the event, via email and text messages."

Recall when Daddy Freeze Alleged that Kiibati has refused to pick his calls after owing him money? Kiibati has replied him... in a very long post

Read below;

Dear Mr. Freeze,

I have tried to steer clear of your endless attempts at cyber bullying and casting aspersions at my image, but your most recent rants have left me no choice but to respond to your allegations.
My friends know that unlike you, I do not engage in attention seeking stunts online or laundering my linen in public.
I am a very private person, with a very small but closely knit circle of friends.

I find your decision to take to social media to spout your allegations highly disappointing, considering your age (I assume you are close to 50 and are considered an 'egbon'), and that you have both my phone numbers, know where my studio/office is and are in touch with many of our mutual colleagues in the broadcast industry.

Now, you made some allegations that are ridiculous and blatantly false:

The first was that I BEGGED you to 'help me out' by participating at my event- Celebrity FC on the 3rd of December.
Now that claim is ridiculous.

First of all, at the event, we had superstars like Olamide, Tuface Idibia, Awilo Longomba, Falz TheBahdGuy, Burna Boy, Peter of P Square, Humblesmith, just to name a few.
The event had over 30 of Nigeria's most beloved celebrities come together in the name of the beautiful game- football, and no disrespect intended Sir, but you do not match up to any of those guys in name or stature.

I contacted you to ask you to help me invite your friend DJ Exclusive to the event, who we know is a staunch Manchester United fan and loved by many.
While bargaining with you on his appearance fee, you gave me the condition that I must invite you as well. We had no plans to invite you because you did not fit the profile of the calibre of celebrities we invite.

You however insisted and charged me the sum of N900,000 for you and DJ Exclusive to split. I found that odd, but felt I had no choice, since I really wanted Exclusive at the event.
You asked me to send you a text message with the offer for you to show DJ Exclusive which I did.

To spice up the deal, you offered to promote the event for two weeks on your show on Cool FM and asked me to send you a media partnership proposal which I did.

Second Post;

Following our conversation on phone, I presented our discussion to my team, who expressed dissatisfaction and said they did not want you at the show, but Exclusive alone. They said you do not match up to the celebrities coming for the show and said we should instead invite your colleague Dotun who will attract the hip, young urban crowd in Lagos to the event.
I did not know how to tell you this as I did not want to hurt your feelings.

I told them about your offer to promote the event for free, which softened their stance a little, but did not totally convince them.

FYI, all the celebrities that came for the event were given official invitation letters/MOUs either physically or by email and were paid at least 2 or 3 months to the event, except for last minute additions.

You eventually told me that the management of Cool FM denied your request to run the promo of the event on your show, which left my team with no choice but to decide to dis-invite you, as they saw no justification for paying you to attend the event without getting any value from you.
According to them, no one will purchase a ticket to a concert to watch Freeze.

I thought this was harsh, and couldn't figure out how to break the news to you, so I kept coming up with ways to buy time, hoping you would take the hint by my refusal to pick your calls atimes. But you eventually helped me out when you told my people a week to the show that DJ Exclusive was pulling out.
This came as a bit of relief to us and my team told you not to bother to come anymore as Exclusive was supposed to be your partner at the show.

After my team asked you not to come, you began to harrass and stalk my phone, calling me endlessly, but I couldn't pick your calls and asked my managers to speak with you. I couldn't pick your calls because I was the host of the show and had to focus on rehearsing for the event with my co-host Seyi Law. I was losing my voice and my team insisted that I stay off the phone to save my voice and energy.

So, you were told not to come for the show, but imagine my shock when on the day of the event, I came down to the celebrity lounge backstage and saw you.

Third Post;

You came along to the event with an actor we hadn't invited. You were drinking all kinds of Spirits began harrasing the stage manager to let you go on stage and play.

The stage manager concluded by your harassment that you were just being a passionate football fan and eventually let you go on stage to play with the celebrity friend you brought to the event.

At no point did I 'contract' you to be at the show as you have widely claimed, unless the word 'contract' has taken on a different meaning.

The second false claim you made was that you tried to call me for a month and I wasn't picking your calls.

This Sir is a blatant lie (or 'alternative fact' as Kellyanne Conway would say), as I travelled out of the country soon after the event and was away in Dubai for the Christmas and New year holidays and my phones were unreachable. My instagram posts in this period confirm this.
I took the break to recuperate after the event and regain my mental and physical strength.

I was away for over 3 weeks, so you couldn't have been calling me all this while, as you claim.

As soon as I landed after my trip, you began to call my phone. You called me two or three times, and I didn't pick your calls because I was still settling down, following my trip; but imagine my surprise when two days later you took to instagram to attack me.

You did not send me a single text, email, direct message on Twitter or Instagram or reach out to me via members of my team but instead chose the cowardly way out with your subtle blackmail and cyber bullying.

I understand that there is a recession in Nigeria at the moment and you may have been broke and desperate for some cash, but as a friend, I would have helped you with some cash if you had just done the decent thing by reaching out to me via text or by being patient for me to return your calls, which I would have after I settled down from my trip.

Fourth Post;

This, as you know, was not my first time dealing with you. I have paid you a lot of cash in the past for different promos on Cool FM. You can recall that I paid you N300,000 regularly sometime in 2015 to promote some kid artists on your show. I can tender my account statements as proof of this.

Your social media antics however, are a declaration of war and put an end to any attempt at friendship with you.

Please Sir, stop your cowardly attempts at cyber bullying me or harrassing my clients Merrybet- the most reputable sports betting firm in Nigeria and address your alleged grievances via the appropriate legal channels.

I don't want to believe that you cannot afford a lawyer Sir.
Please stop your cowardly attacks and take up whatever issues you believe you have against me in court or with the appropriate authorities and desist from your public attacks.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, February 16, 2017, arraigned one Adetoro Fisayo Femi (a.k.a Bawa Mohammed Sanni) before Justice F. A. Odubanjo of the Federal High Court of Ondo State sitting in Akure, on a 6-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence, conspiracy, forgery, uttering of forged documents, retaining the proceed of crime and money laundering.
Adetoro however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him. In view of his plea, prosecution counsel, Oluwatoyin Owodunni prayed the court for a trial date and for the remand of the defendant in prison custody. However, counsel to the defendant, A.O. Oyibanji informed the court of a pending application for bail served on the prosecution today.

Justice Odubanjo adjourned the case till February 22, 2017 for hearing of bail application and April 12, 2017 for trial while the defendant is to be remanded in prison custody pending the determination of the application for bail.

One of the charge reads:
“That you, Adetoro Fisayo Femi (a.k.a Bawa Mohammed Sanni) and Olawale Ayeni (at large) on or about the 29th day of July, 2016 at Akure within the Akure Judicial Division of this honourable court did transfer and remove from your Wema Bank account to the bank account of one Ibironke Adebayo the sum of Four Hundred and Sixty Nine Thousand Four Hundred Naira (N469, 400) only, which money is part of the sum of Nine Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (950,000) only you obtained from Straight Hold Global Services Limited and with the aim of concealing and retaining the proceeds of crime and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 17(1) (a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibuited) Act No 11, of 2011 (as Amended by the Money Laundering (Prohibion) Act, 2012) and punishable under section 17(1)(b) of the same Act".
Adetoro’s journey to the dock followed a petition to the EFCC alleging that the defendant and his accomplice, Olawale who is now at large, used the internet for fraudulent activities with which they fleeced unsuspecting victims of their money. Adetoro and his accomplice conspired and forged fake drivers license titled “Nigeria National Drivers License NO.RBS691520AB” in the name of Bawa Mohammed Sanni but bearing Adetoro’s passport photograph purporting it to have been issued by the Federal Road Safety Commission.
The defendant thereafter altered the said forged document to one Ayodele Mary, a staff of one of the new generation banks (name withheld) with the intent that it may be acted upon as genuine in facilitating his operations and maintaining an account with the said bank.
He further laundered N496,400.00 using one Ibironke Adebayo account and subsequently purchased a second hand engine for Amanda Jeep with the help of Olawale.

The police in Benue State have paraded one Misa Mohammed for parading himself as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and allegedly using same to harass unsuspecting members of the public.

Spokesman of the command, Moses Joel Yamu, said the suspect, whose real name was Misa Iorliam Francis, appeared to have been defrauded by an illegal recruitment syndicate and cautioned people against dealing with questionable characters promising them jobs.

Speaking to newsmen, the suspect said a certain police officer, Uche Paul, who he met in 2013 when he registered for JAMB, had allegedly masterminded his recruitment into the police academy.

“The man (Paul) took me to the police station and assured that he would recruit me. He later printed an acceptance letter which he gave me as the commencement of my training. .

He recommended books which I bought and he urged me to read them as part of my training for the 4 years I stayed there. I went back to my people who donated N130,000 which I gave to Paul.
I have been collecting things such as money and food items from my people for him during the period. And when he told me that I was going to pass out on February 3, 2017, I organised my people who went to thank him while I also did a thanksgiving in the church,” he said.

Sahara Reporters publisher Omoyele Sowore celebrated his 46th birthday yesterday. The most interesting thing about it was that Sowore's invitation to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) yesterday coincided with his birthday.
So after the police got intimidated and subsequently chickened out of the so-called 'interview',his supporters decided to celebrate his birthday right in front of the police station. The police had no alternative but to cope with all the revolutionary singing that followed. Some of the police officers looked considerably embarrassed.
